A recent survey found that more than 70% of people want to be entrepreneurs.
Becoming an entrepreneur is more than a job or having your own business. There are many business owners who aren’t entrepreneurs and many entrepreneurs who aren’t business owners. This is because being an entrepreneur is a mindset, it’s a way of thinking, which then translates to a way of behaving.
So are you an entrepreneur?
1. Autonomy– Entrepreneurs can’t abide the 9-5! It’s too restricting. It cramps their creativity and stifles and their vision. In fact they relish the idea of running their own business, or working on their own project, or invention… They’re restless otherwise.
2. Opportunities– Entrepreneurs live in their own world where they see problems as opportunities.
3. Impact– Entrepreneurs always wa t to make a positive impact. More than money, status or wealth is a massive desire to impact their world.
4. Freedom– this is the answer most entrepreneurs give when asked why they became entrepreneurs. For many, the idea of doing what they want, how they want, when they want is compelling enough to risk of stepping out.
<<< strong>Responsibility- Entrepreneurs generally have a strong sense of responsibility. They’re not easily led, but are always driven. Entrepreneurs are visionaries, so they often see what others don’t. They’re not into towing the party line and will often be seen as trouble makers to conformist.
6. Being your Own Boss– Entrepreneurs hate the mundane. Being their own boss ensure they never indulge in it.
7. Time and Family – This at the top of the entrepreneurs list. Entrepreneurs are driven by the desire to give more, so they can get more time with their family.
8. Creating a Legacy– The idea of forging a lasting legacy is important to entrepreneurs. They down want to leave footprints in the sand but craft them into stone.
9. Accomplishment– Entrepreneurs work relentlessly, so they generally love to stand back and admire their accomplishments. They understand the power of celebrating, yet critically analysing both their wins and their losses.
10. Control– Their are those who say that entrepreneurs are control freaks. Hmmm… that’s a a matter of opinion. I’ve yet to meet a real entrepreneur whom I could refer to as a control freak. On the contrary, real entrepreneurs understand that only team work makes the dream work.
So with all of the above in mind, there remains but one question, “are you an entrepreneur?”
